How To Stop Tanking In The NBA!

It’s no secret that teams tank in the NBA today. The Philadelphia 76ers have been doing that for the last 3 seasons. Some are fans of it, while others hate it. How do you feel about tanking in the NBA? Me, personally, I don’t have a problem with it. The goal at the end of the day is to win it all. If you’re in the East and you don’t play alongside LeBron James, you can’t win it all. James have took his teams to the Finals the last seven seasons. That isn’t going to stop anytime soon. If you’re in the West, you will have to go through the toughest conference in the league. Majority of star players have signed with Western Conference teams to slow down the Warriors. Will this work? The Warriors have the best team in NBA History, as they broke the regular season wins record winning 73 games in 2016, then added Kevin Durant later that summer. So, the chances of you winning it all if you don’t play for The Cleveland Cavaliers or the Golden State Warriors are slim to none.

While some teams try to form super teams of their own, other teams are tanking. Tanking does affect the balance of power around the league, but if you can’t win it all and you struggle to sign top free agents, tanking does work and it seems to be the only solution. The NBA, however, isn’t a fan of tanking. It was reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that the NBA will aggressively pursue a draft lottery reform to lower tanking teams from landing a top pick. The NBA also wants to keep teams from getting a top 3 pick in back to back years. If you want to eliminate tanking, the NBA should perhaps contact me, because I have the perfect solution.

Why don’t we form our own version of the NCAA NIT Tournament Bracket, and have all of the teams that didn’t make the playoffs compete for #1 Draft Pick. Who ever wins this NBA version of the NIT Tournament will be rewarded with the #1 Pick with the rest of the draft order  determined depending on where the teams finished within the tournament. This will boost NBA Ratings, give us more games, earn the league even more money, force every team to compete, as well as increase fan interest because they will be forced to be as good as they possibly can.
