2018 NBA DRAFT EXPRESS! NBA Draft Superlatives

Biggest Risk: Michael Porter Jr. (Missouri- Small Forward)

He only appeared in 3 games at Missouri due to a bad back. We don’t have much tape or film on him, and that could work to his advantage early on, but hurt him in the end. He is a high risk, high reward player and quite frankly, we don’t know how he’s going to hold up along an 82 game season.

Biggest Sleeper: Mikal Bridges (Villanova- Shooting Guard/ Small Forward)

After spending 3 seasons at Villanova, Mikal Bridges proves to be one of the most polished players in this draft. He also proves to be one of the hardest workers too. He started his college career being red-shirted. He then became the 6th man and the year after that, he was the captain of a team that won the National Title. He’s a 3 & D player, something that ALL teams would love to have on a roster. He is definitely one of the more coveted players in this year’s draft.

Most Likely Bust: Trae Young (Oklahoma- Point Guard)

If I were to tell you Adam Morrison and Jimmer Fredette were going to be a bust, most people would rebuke me. Those two players aren’t even in the league now. Great college careers for both of them, but things just didn’t work out for them in the pros. While standing at 6’2 weighing only 180 pounds, Young is going to get punished on the defensive end, if he does not bulk up. The road to glory will definitely be a journey for Trae Young, but there is sometimes a light at the end of the tunnel…sometimes.

Safest Pick: Luka Doncic (Point Guard/Shooting Guard- Slovenia)

Luka Doncic has been a well-known commodity and a house hold name for years now, and he’s only 19, Already he has  won two MVP Awards and a Championship in EuroLeague Play. At 6’7, Doncic provides great size along with good ball handling and passing skills, to go along with a smooth jump shot too. He will have a long career and will be a key peice to a championship team one day. Doncic is your safest bet in this year’s draft.

Best Rookie: DeAndre Ayton (Arizona- Center)

Expected to be this year’s #1 Draft Pick, DeAndre Ayton will be the best rookie in this class. Not only is he big, he’s also agile. He can beat nearly every center off the dribble, even 76ers All-Star Joel Embiid. His game actually compares to Embiid’s, but he could actually be better, especially in the health department. Ayton is a threat inside and out. He bullied everyone in college, and we can expect the same exact thing in the NBA. He will get plenty of touches, and he may already demand a double team in just his first year. DeAndre Ayton is the best rookie in this class and its not even close.
