The ODU Monarchs have fallen to 3-5 after a 31-17 loss to the Georgia State Panthers. This was a disappointing loss for ODU as this game was considered a game they should have won.
Sometimes, it pays to be aggressive in life. When your backs are against the wall, it’s good to take chances in life. Even when the odds aren’t against you, taking chances in life can prove to be beneficial. You never know what will happen and you simply hope for the best.
A lot of the great coaches in the NFL took major swings in situations, and it worked in their favors. Those Bill Belichick teams led by Tom Brady in New England was one of them. They ended up winning multiple super bowls. And even a recent winner of the Super Bowl in 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles led by Doug Pederson was a team that took big swings in games.
In this game, the Panthers were the ones that were aggressive and that is why they came up with a win vs. ODU. They converted more 3rd down conversions. However, they were 3/4 on 4th down conversions. ODU didn’t attempt a single attempt on 4th down. Due to the aggression by Georgia State, the Panthers nearly doubled the total yards in this game. Of course, they did a lot of damage on the ground as ODU has struggled to stop the run all season.
That is something the Monarchs should be focusing on for the rest of this season. Due to being outrushed 223-26, the Panthers dominated in time of possession 37:10 – 22:50. In this game, QB Hayden Wolff once again had a solid performance as he threw for 257 yards and added 2 more TD’s to the season. The Monarchs will need to get this running game addressed immediately. They will host Marshall next week at 2PM ET.
