On a gloomy day in Williamsburg, the number 5 team in the FCS rankings unvite a scrappy Maine Black Bears to Zable Stadium and things started with multiple punts not until the end of the first quarter did Bronson Yoder punch the first score putting the Tribe up early. With both defenses causing multiple stops scoring came at a premium for the first half with the tribe making a great goalline stance and holding to 3.
After the first half, it appeared to be all on the ground with the ugly weather. Coming out into the second half Ryan Poole of William and Mary picks off Maine and gives the Tribe a short field. After multiple rushes the Tribe scores on a bootleg by Darius Wilson to go up 14-3 early in the second half. After a Malachi Imoh runs down inside the 5 to give the tribe a 21 to 3 lead. When you move down one in the rankings but still win it makes you want to finish games.
Unfortunately in the fourth quarter, Bronson Yoder took a hit and was carted off the field. With the Tribe having a three-headed monster it was Malachi Imoh and Martin Lucas taking the rest of the snaps. Martin Lucas scored in the fourth to close out Maine with a 28-3 win bringing the Tribe 4-0. The tribe will take on Elon on the road as they look to avenge last year’s crucial loss that cost them.
