The NFL regular season is slowly coming to an end. We are heading into week ten already! These Sundays come and go and they’re beginning to seem like a spring more so than a marathon. Heading into week 10, it feels as if the Commanders have a really shot at making the postseason and here’s why.
- Seattle is on the decline
The Seattle Seahawks came into this season as a lock to make the playoffs. Geno Smith had a feeling good story last season. The defense is always good. In fact, they have improved. Kenny Walker has established himself as a premier running back in this league and they even added another weapon for Geno Smith in Jaxon Smith-Njigba. However, Geno has thrown a lot of picks over the last couple of weeks and it doesn’t seem to be improving. Seattle may slip in the standings.
2. The Vikings are falling apart
In the beginning, the question was should the Vikings move on from Kirk Cousins. Then it was a question of should they just rebuild this thing from the ground up. The defense is pretty bad there in Minnesota. Now, Kirk Cousins is out for the season and Justin Jefferson is still on the IR. Now, Cam Akers is out for the season as well. Yes, I know they have Josh Dobbs now. But he can’t solve all of their problems alone. If the Vikings do make the playoffs, they will be a team that knows they have no business there. They know they can’t win at the highest level now. They know they have some huge holes to fill on both sides of the ball. This feels like a team that wants to improve by getting a good draft pick.
It feels like Philadelphia, San Francisco, Detroit, Dallas, and New Orleans are locks to make the postseason. That leaves two playoffs spots open for the Commanders. If the Commanders can handle their business and win the games they ought to win moving forward, they should find themselves in the playoffs this season.
