How Can the Chiefs Recover

The Kansas City Chiefs face an unfamiliar offseason after a crushing end to their year, with Patrick Mahomes sidelined by a torn ACL and the team eliminated from playoff contention. Still, recovery is not only possible, it can be swift if the organization makes the right commitments. One of the most practical steps would be bringing back Gardner Minshew. When given real opportunities, Minshew has consistently proven he can operate an offense, protect the football, and keep a team competitive. He may not be Mahomes, but he is a quality quarterback with the skill set and confidence to start games and stabilize the offense while Mahomes rehabs.

Just as important is a full rebuild of the offensive line. Mahomes’ injury only reinforces what has been evident for years: protection matters. Investing heavily in linemen through both the draft and free agency must be a priority to preserve the franchise quarterback long term. Finally, the Chiefs must fully commit to the running game. They need a dominant, unquestioned lead back—an every-down runner who can shoulder the offense and win games on his own when necessary. Until Kansas City truly embraces a run-first balance, they risk hitting the same postseason roadblock year after year.

Jaguars a Team to Watch Down the Stretch

The Jacksonville Jaguars are quickly emerging as a team to watch as the regular season winds down. Sitting at 10–4 and appearing to be in control of their division, the Jaguars not only lead the standings but also look like the most complete team in the AFC South. Their momentum is real, and it starts with their franchise quarterback. Trevor Lawrence delivered a statement performance this past week, accounting for six total touchdowns in a dominant win over the New York Jets. The result was so lopsided it led to the firing of Jets defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, underscoring just how explosive Jacksonville’s offense has become. Lawrence continues to show maturity and poise, spreading the football efficiently and making smart decisions rather than forcing plays. What truly makes the Jaguars dangerous, however, is their balance.

The passing attack is complemented by a dominant running game led by Travis Etienne, who is on pace for a 1,000-yard rushing season. Etienne’s ability to control games on the ground takes pressure off Lawrence and keeps defenses guessing. With confidence, balance, and star power on offense, Jacksonville is peaking at the right time. If they carry this form into the postseason, the Jaguars could be a team no contender wants to face.
