Wizards Defeat the Heat in Overtime 107-106 (11-18-22)

WASHINGTON-The Washington Wizards (8-7) hosted the Miami Heat (7-8) on Friday night. Both teams are coming off tough losses. Washington lost a nail-biter to Oklahoma City Thunder 121-120 after Shai Gilgeous-Alexander knock down a game-winning three-pointer. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 42 points in the win. The Heat lost to the Toronto Raptors 112-104 as they continue to struggle to get on the right track this season. Both teams are trying to get back to their winning ways. The Wizards were almost at full strength and the Heat on the hand only had seven active players for this game. Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro were just a few of the players out for Miami. Who would win this first of four matchups?

Washington held the early lead in the first quarter before Miami took the lead with 9:49 left in the second quarter and would keep the lead until 10:31 in the fourth quarter. The Wizards and Heat went back and forth down the stretch and would end up heading to overtime.

In the overtime period, we would only see five points. Kyle Kuzma hit the game-winning free throw to give the Wizards a 107-106 overtime victory. Bradley Beal scored a game-high 27 points while dishing out eight assists. Kyle Kuzma (21 points & 8 rebounds) & Kristaps Porzingis (20 points & 17 rebounds ) help put the Wizards over the top.

Kyle Lowry led the way for the Heat. Lowry’s 24 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds gave him his 21st career triple-double. Max Strus scored 22 points while Heat rookie Nikola Jovic scored 18 points in an impressive outing.

The Wizards move to 9-7 on the season and will host the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, November 20 at 6 pm from Capital One Arena.
