LegacyMaker Sports NFL Championship Sunday Pick’em (1-20-19)

The race to Atlanta is making its last two stops on Championship Sunday. Both Championship games will give us a rematch with the Rams and Chiefs out looking to get revenge. The Rams will have to travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints and the Patriots will have to travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs. With the chance to play in Atlanta on the line….for all the marbles….all four remaining teams will be looking to make one last push to realize their season goal playing for a championship.

In the NFC the Los Angeles Rams will travel back to the Superdome to take on the New Orleans Saints. The Saints won the previous matchup 45-35 and are looking for a repeat performance on their home turf. The dome will be rocking for an all-out slugfest as these two teams collide. Both the Saints and Rams feature a great ground attack behind Ingram and Kamara and Gurley and Anderson respectively. Both teams will be looking to impose their will on the ground to ensure success through the air and snatch the win. This game will boil down to line play whichever offensive and defensive line unit imposes their will more than likely be the team to move on here. The Rams’ defensive is coming off a great performance last by bottling up Ezekiel Elliott and imposing their will on the Cowboys Offensive but it will be hard to repeat that performance two weeks in a row. The Saints offensive may not as experienced as the Rams line but their Defensive line as a unit has been playing well this season. I predict that the Saints will get the season sweep on the Rams thanks to a game-ending drive from Drew Brees and the Saints. The Saints will defend their home turf and get the win 35-28 returning the big game for the second time in Brees’ career.

On the AFC side, we’ll see the New England Patriots travel to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Kansas City Chiefs. Earlier this season we saw the Patriots get the win at home in Foxboro to the tune of 43-40. The Patriots are coming off a dominating performance of pummeling the Chargers. While it’ll be nearly impossible to repeat that performance this weekend the Patriots will be looking to turn Sony Michel lose on the Chiefs’ defense in the expected frigid temperatures this weekend. On offense, Brady will keep it simple and make the necessary plays to put his team in position to win. Kansas City all season has had a high flying offense that shows speed on the edges and dual-threat backs out of the backfield. The weather may play a big part in this game as the Chiefs may not be able to let Mahomes drop back and fling it all over the field. Last week the Chiefs’ defense held Andrew Luck and the Colts’ offense in check. While the weather may assist I don’t think they’ll have as dominant of a performance on Sunday. Belichick and Brady have found themselves in this position before and with another trip to the big game on the line their find a way to make it happen. The Patriots get the win on a last-second field goal to move on 21-20.
