Virginia 3-0 in the ACC and Getting Stronger (1-10-21)

The Virginia Cavaliers are on a 3-game winning streak following a lopsided loss to Gonzaga 98-75 in Fort Worth, Texas. The Cavaliers needed these games to re-establish themselves as a team to reckon with. The first of those three games to place in South Bend. The Cavs would take on Notre Dame, who came into the game 3-4 on the season and 0-2 in the ACC. Kihei Clark led the way for the Cavs with 19 points and 5 assists in 38 minutes of play. Seniors Jay Huff and Sam Hauser put up good numbers. Huff dropped 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, while Hauser had 13 points & 10 rebounds in the 66-57 win.

After the January 2nd game vs. Virginia Tech was postponed Due to Covid precautions. The Cavs would take on Wake Forest in Charlottesville. Despite Wake Forest going into halftime with a 5-point lead, Virginia would outscore Wake Forest 36-22 in the second half leading them to a 70–61 victory. Five players from Cavaliers scored in double figures. Sam Hauser scored 16 points and snagged 11 rebounds to lead the Cavs to victory.

In the last of the 3 games, Virginia traveled to Chestnut Hill, Mass to take on Boston College. Seniors Jay Huff & Sam Hauser would take control again in a Cavaliers 61-49 victory over the Eagles. With Huff’s 18 points & Hauser’s 17 points, the Cavs would extend their overall record to 7-2 on the season. Virginia’s next game will be on Wednesday, January 13th at 4:30 pm at John Paul Jones Arena and they will take on Notre Dame for the second of their two matchups this season.
