Tiger Woods had to withdraw from the tournament today. Woods posted on Instagram that the decision happened because he aggravated his foot injury. Woods was unable to finish the third round as it was postponed due to inclement weather.
In the last 5 majors for Tigers Woods, he is 44 over par including this year’s Masters. During that time he withdrew twice, missed the cut once, and made the cut twice. Although he matched the record this year for cuts made at Augusta and outlasted big names just as Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy. It is time for Tiger to prepare for his next competitive golfing career on the Champions Tour.
Tiger has continuously said he will not use a golf cart in an event. This is something that would be offered at certain events and help his golf game as he would not have to walk. Recently Jack Nicklaus stated on Nick Faldo’s podcast that Tiger has told him once he gets on the Champions Tour he will start to use a cart. Tiger is not eligible for the Champions Tour until December 30, 2025. This has given hope to many as it was the first news to come out that indicated Tiger Woods was planning on playing in the Champions Tour once eligible.
It is time Tiger stops competing on the PGA Tour. Woods simply cannot compete with the young players on the tour who are healthier and play more consistently. With lingering health issues, new business opportunities, and inconsistent playing time. The next time we should see Tiger Woods playing should only be on the PGA Champions Tour in a couple of years.
