In the first game of the 2024 Ally ACC Women’s Tournament, we have #13 Boston College going wire to wire never taking their foot off the gas with an efficient 24 points from T’YanaTodd who went 5 of 6 from three-point land and is only a sophomore looking to grow on this performance. They took care of #12 Clemson (12-19, 5-13 conf) who had great performances from Ruby Whitehorn who is only a sophomore, and Dayshanette Harris a senior each had 26 points but fell short as Boston College will advance on to face #5 Louisville at 11 am in game 4 of the tournament but game one on Thursday. Louisville swept the series but barely came out with a win on Chestnut Hill 69-67.

Game 5

In the second game on Thursday, the # 8 Lady Tarheels of North Carolina will square off against the #9 Miami Hurricanes at 1:30 pm for game number 5 of the tournament and the last one of the morning session. Carolina won the only matchup this season 66 to 61 in Chapel Hill.

Game two has the Lady Panthers of Pittsburgh (8-23, 2-16 conf) taking on the Lady Yellowjackets of Georgia Tech (16-14, 7-11 conf) where this was a slugfest until the end. At half both teams went in thinking they had enough to survive and advance with the score 38 to 32 Georgia Tech. Local Virginia talent Bella Perkins of Paul VI led Pittsburgh with 13 points in the first half keeping them in the game. However, Georgia Tech pulled away in the fourth quarter and was led by Tonie Morgan who had 24 points and 11 rebounds. Georgia Tech will take on Duke in game 6 of the tournament and the first game in the afternoon session on Thursday at 5 pm.

In the final game of the day, one of the #11 Lady Hoos of Virginia (15-14, 7-11 conf) faced off against Wake Forest (6-24, 2-16 conf), and based on the big wins and late streak that UVA has been on you wouldn’t expect the halftime score to be 25-23 Wake Forest, however, Elise Williams and Alexandria Scruggs came out fighting. I don’t know what coach Hamilton (Mox) said at halftime but that must have been what the Lady Hoos needed to hear as they dominated the third quarter 23 to 10 to gain the lead going into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, UVA could not score as Wake Forest returned the love and put up a 23 to 9 quarter to bounce the Hoos 58 to 55. Camryn Taylor had 15 points and 5 rebounds while Freshmen Kymora Johnson had a great effort with 12 points 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Elise Williams led the way with 25 points and 9 rebounds along with 3 of 4 trey balls hit and 12 of 14 from the foul line. A masterful performance that sends Wake Forest into the next round against Florida State for game 7 Thursday at 7:30 pm of the Women’s 2024 Ally ACC Tournament.
