In the 2024 ACC championship game, the number one seed North Carolina Tarheels took on the surprising number 10 seed North Carolina State in what would be an automatic qualifier and great momentum going into the NCAA tournament.

In the first eight minutes, the Wolfpack came out on fire starting the game on a 20-to-11 run. Both D.J., Horne, and Burns led the way for the Wolfpack with 13 points from Horne and 11 points from Burns. Horne did receive his third foul in the first half which contributed to his ability to play free. Carolina would bounce back with multiple three-pointers by All-American R.J. Davis and right before the half Cormick Ryan came out of a slump nailing a three before the half giving the Tarheels the lead 40-to-39. The game would be what you want for a title game which is back-and-forth action from both teams. The crowd was electric with both teams showing support and truly selling out the Capital One Arena.

Every time the Tarheels went on a run N.C. The state responded and made every play. The energy that it took for North Carolina State to just get to the finals was heroic however the fact they went blow to blow with the top three seeds and took them out was simply something amazing and it needed to be rewarded and winning the tournament to secure an automatic bid is just what the doctor ordered.

North Carolina State defeated North Carolina 84-73 to become the ACC tournament champs.  R.J. Davis had 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in a losing effort with Bacot going for 18 points and 10 rebounds. This will give the Wolfpack an automatic bid.  The true question is how many teams will come out of the ACC?  The Tournament MVP was D.J. Burns who had 20 points along with D.J. Horne who had 27 points on 8-13 shooting before fouling out. The Wolfpack having four guys in double figures carries the Wolfpack to the title win.
