Defenders Grab First Win In The UFL, Stay Undefeated At Home (4-7-24)

The second week of the 2024 UFL season finished up this past week. The first game of the week was last Saturday. The San Antonio Brahmas defeated Memphis Showboats 20-19 moving to 2-0 on the season. The Arlington Renegades lost a tight one to the St.Louis Battlehawks 27-24 on the road. We had to Sunday and in the first match the Birmingham Stallions stayed undefeated with a 20-13 win over the Michigan Panthers. Lastly, the DC Defenders took on the Houston Roughnecks in Washington DC.

The Defenders would defeat the Roughnecks 23-18 to remain undefeated at home in their brief history. Defenders QB Jordan Ta’amu bounced back from an early pick-six that went 98 yards from Houston Cornerback and former Washington Commander Corn Elder. Ta’amu would go 16-for-32 with 212 yards and two passing touchdowns. Tight end Briley Moore-McKinney had one of the best catches so far this season with an amazing one-hand grab for a touchdown. Derrick Roberson and Deandre Baker both forced fumbles for the Defenders to keep this DC defense on top of their game. Roberson also records a sack for DC.

The DC Defenders (1-1) will be on the road to take on Arlington Renegades (0-2) on Saturday, April 13th at 1 pm in a rematch of last year‘s XFL championship game. The defenders will not return home until April 28 when they will take on St. Louis Battlehawks.
