Defenders Win A Nail-biter In Arlington (4-13-24)

The third week of the 2024 UFL season finished up this past week. Last Saturday. The Birmingham Stallions    defeated Memphis Showboats 33-14 moving to 3-0 on the season. On Sunday, the San Antonio Brahmas lost a tough one to the St.Louis Battlehawks 31-24 at home. The Michigan Panthers move to 2-1 with 34-20 win over the Houston Roughnecks. Lastly, the DC Defenders traveled to Arlington to face the Renegades in a rematch of last year’s XFL Championship Game. 

The Defenders would defeat the Renegades 29-28 to in dramatic fashion to move to 2-1 on the season. Defenders QB Jordan Ta’amu would go 11-for-24 with 188 yards and two passing touchdowns. Chris Rowland (2 rec, 36 yards) and Brandon Smith (1 rec, 14 yards) would pull in Ta’amu’s touchdown passes. Derrick Roberson (7 tackles, 0.5 sack)  and Michael Jospeh (8 tackles) both lead the charge defensively for the Defenders. This back and forth contest would end with a clutch 49-yard field goal from Matthew McCrane with time-expiring to lock in the win. 

The DC Defenders (2-1) will remain on the road to take on undefeated  Birmingham Stallions (3-0) on Saturday, April 20th at 7 pm . The defenders will not return home until April 28 where they will take on St. Louis Battlehawks.
