Another week of ODU Football has came by and we leave the weekend with a smile on our faces. Yes, the ODU Monarchs have had a tough season. Yes, the ODU Monarchs haven’t figured out how to win on a consistent basis. And yes, the ODU Monarchs are looking to go on a winning streak.

Last weekend, ODU was able to keep it close despite losing. This weekend, they still were able to keep it close. However, they were able to pull off the upset on the road as they beat the Georgia State Panthers 21-14.

It feels like ODU has found out what they need to do to be successful as they committed to the rushing attack in this game. Three players had 10+ carries in this game for the Monarchs. That is what opened things up in the passing game for Quarterback Colton Joseph as he made yet another start for ODU. They out-gained the Panthers on the ground 202-57.

As a matter of fact, they had 45 rushing attempts to Georgia State’s 28. The Panthers couldn’t get anything going on the ground against ODU. To top things off, the Monarchs won the turnover battle. That certainly is a sure way to win football games. This was a cruise victory for ODU. They did everything right in this game as they even won the total yardage battle 343-317. The Monarchs will return home next week as they are hoping to go on a bit of a winning streak as they host the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday October 19th at 3:30 PM Eastern Time.
