There’s a saying that says good things don’t last forever. That saying could be in reference to love, maybe a good job one may have obtained, or even a car that has proven to be reliable for years. At some point of time, the luck runs out and you’re forced to face either reality or just a humbling piece of a reality check.
These last few weeks have been some of the best weeks of football for the ODU Monarchs. Their scoring has been up, their defense has improved, and they have won three straight games. That came to an end this past weekend as the Monarchs went on the road to take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
Their offense looked okay. Quarter Colten Joseph played decent as he contributed for 374 total yards to go along with two touchdowns however he did fumble three times in this game. His favorite target was Isiah Page as he had 13 catches for 205 receiving yards. Passing to one player the majority of the game can be detrimental at times because you’re limiting your options. You also are giving the defense a break as they become forced to just have worry of concern for that one particular threat.
That didn’t matter or wouldn’t had mattered anyway because ODU’s defense let them down in this game. They gave up four touchdowns to the Mountaineers Quarterback, Joey Aguilar. Additionally, Appalachian State won the battle of yards on the ground.
The Monarchs offense may have played fair, however committing four turnovers in this game really cost them this game. They will look to rebound from this loss and clean things up offensively as they return home to host the James Madison Dukes Saturday November 16th at 4PM Eastern Time.
