ROANOKE, VA — As the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs prepare to enter their 10th season in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), the franchise is marking the milestone in a big way — with a striking new logo set and fresh uniforms that signal the next chapter of Dawgs hockey.
Unveiled at a special event celebrating the decade milestone, the updated branding was met with enthusiasm by fans and team supporters alike. The refreshed identity, designed by Fooser Sports Design, features cleaner lines and a modern aesthetic while staying true to the core elements that have defined the franchise. Roanoke’s iconic star and the region’s deep railroad heritage continue to anchor the brand.
A Milestone Season
Attendees at the logo reveal heard from Jamie McGinn, principal owner and chairman of Breakaway Sports & Entertainment, who spoke about the excitement surrounding the franchise’s 10th season and the community support that has fueled its growth.
Since the team’s founding in 2016, the Dawgs have become a staple of the Roanoke Valley sports scene, highlighted by their incredible run to the SPHL’s Presidents Cup championship in the 2021–22 season. That title remains a crowning achievement in team history — and a reminder of what’s possible as a new season begins.
Mark Your Calendars
The Rail Yard Dawgs will open their 10th anniversary campaign on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 7:05 P.M. for Opening Night presented by Haley Toyota of Roanoke. While the full SPHL schedule has not yet been released, the team’s home opener promises to kick off the season in style with fans getting their first in-game look at the new logos and uniforms.
Looking Ahead
Fans also got a sneak peek at new jerseys and merchandise during the reveal event, as the organization continues to embrace both tradition and innovation heading into Year Ten. More anniversary celebrations and special events are expected to be announced as the season approaches.
With a decade of memories behind them and a bold new look ahead, the Rail Yard Dawgs are set to make their 10th season one to remember.
