Early afternoon on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, the Washington commanders would acquire Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz in a trade. In this trade, the Colts would receive a 2022 second-round pick, a 2022 third-round pick & a 2023 third-round pick that can become a 2nd round base off Wentz’s performance in 2022. Along with Wentz, the Commanders would acquire the Colts 2022 second-round pick. With the move, the Colts have a chance to move on from the veteran QB, who according to some reports since the season’s ending had fallen out of favor in Indy due to lack of leadership. Since the end of the season, the Colts would not commit to Wentz going into the 2022 season and that’s when the trade rumors begin to start. Now for the Colts, they will enter 2022 with the six different starters in the last six years.

Now Washington will get a quarterback coming off one of his best seasons in the league. Wentz threw for 3563 yards, 27 touchdowns with only 7 interceptions. Wentz has a strong arm and has a chance to open up the Commanders passing game, especially with the talented WR Terry McLaurin, potential top tier TE Logan Thomas & deep threat Curtis Samuel (if healthy) in the offensive passing game could take a huge leap. Only time will tell if Carson Wentz was the right man to take command in Washington.
