The Tribe Runs Out of Time Against Towson (10-5-24)

As the Tribe heads into a bye week after this game, they could be in one or two spots. A win would give them top-10 status in the FCS after cracking the spot and a loss would essentially hit the speed-up button on the drive for playoff contention. Entering Johnny Unitas stadium on a Saturday afternoon to take on Towson, the Tribe fell behind early down 10-0 on successful drives by Towson.

William and Mary fought back to tie the game with a Bronson Yoder 4-yard touchdown and a couple of field goals by Eric Bernstein tying the ballgame 13-13 at the half. This happened all in 36 seconds with an interception by Jalen Jones. Once the second half kicked off, the Tribe struggled turning the ball over allowing Towson to score 21 unanswered points all in the third quarter. With a 34-13 deficit the Tribe fought back and continued to cut the lead down. A nice 14-0 run helped however the time required to get that accomplished was just under 20 minutes. 

Towson ran the clock out on a couple of first downs and closed out with a conference win against Willam and Mary 34-27. The turnovers proved costly as the total yards from William and Mary was enough to get the win but The Tribe will have two weeks to lick their wounds as this will be the eye-opener that continues to let them know how difficult conference play can be. Undefeated at home the Tribe will look to take advantage of the home cooking as they host Campbell for Homecoming on October 19. That will lead them to back-to-back road games in a crucial CAA conference battle.
