No Name, No Problem: Washington Defeats Eagles 27-17 (9-14-20)

The Washington Football Team has had a great deal of distraction these past several months. The former team name has been removed, law suits, threatened to be left without a place to call home at FedEx Field, rebranding, new coaching staff, and just recently, the cancer found within Head Coach Ron Rivera and deciding to part ways with arguably the best RB or All-Time, Adrian Peterson. Decisions had to be made, some good and some bad, but the key is to move forward. Last year was another stressful season for the Washington Football Team, they failed to miss the playoffs yet again and finished last within the NFC East Division with a 3-13 record. After a long offseason and few opportunities to prep while in the middle of a global pandemic, the Washington Football Team prepped quite well as they hosted the Philadelphia Eagles.

Washington picked up a 27-17 win and are currently atop of the NFC East. This team hung their hat on the defensive side of the ball as we saw it’s not always how you start a game, but how you finish it. Washington actually trailed 17-0 in the first half. They locked down defensively and didn’t allow the Eagles to score at all throughout the rest of the entire game! Totaling 8 sacks in this game, they gave Eagles QB Carson Wentz all kinds of fits and even managed to intercept him twice as well. Carson did pass for almost 300 yards.

However, Washington gameplanned well and focused on stopping the run as they only allowed 57 rushing yards. After Week 1, the Washington Football Team has given up the second fewest amount of rushing yards and they should feel proud. Defense may be the Redskins forte this season after using their #2 Overall Pick on DE Chase Young. This has already proved to be a great move. In his very first NFL Game, Young led this game in sacks with 1.5 vs. the Eagles. What we see on the field is great, but we need to give credit to what we see off the field. Head Coach Ron Rivera is a great leader and Head Coach in this league. With his addition to this franchise, Washington has a lot to look forward to and this may be only the beginning for what’s to come for this team!
