Where will Giancarlo “Mike” Stanton land Next Season?
As the World Series just ended and the Houston Astros were crowned champions of Major League Baseball, the chatter around possible Mike Stanton landing spots has intensified. The Dodgers are in the mix as a possible landing spot if they could possibly deal one of their top prospects and somehow Miami agrees to pay the rest of his $295 Million dollar contract. Could you imagine a Dodgers outfield with Chris Taylor, Yasiel Puig, and Mike Stanton that would give most starting pitchers nightmares.
The San Fransisco Giants are also trying to make a play on Stanton, but the Marlins would need a bat in exchange for losing the power of Stanton. The Giants may have an answer for the Marlins if their willing to part ways with their #4 prospect Heliot Ramos. Scouts say Ramos would make an immediate impact in the Major Leagues with his bat and strong arm in the outfield.
The aspect of making a trade for a big market star is complicated at best and the 2017 class of free agents features some big names this off season. Eric Hosmer, Carlos Santana, Yonder Alonso and Logan Morrison can provide the same impact but for a much cheaper price. So with that in mind are teams willing to sacrifice for Stanton or go after one of these guys for a better bargain. Carlos Santana has already been contacted by the Red Sox,
Angels and Mariners. So it begs the question are teams willing to spend big money and prospects on Stanton or will Stanton remain a Marlin for the 2018 season. Its to early to call but let the Hot Stove of rumors begin.
