The ODU Monarchs had a big test over the weekend with playing the 25 ranked James Madison Dukes. The Dukes have beplaying some good football this season. Last week, the Monarchs played flawless football in their win against Appalachian State. This season, the Dukes have been playing flawless football all season as they were undefeated coming into this game.
The Monarchs played pretty well in this game. You can definitely feel like the team is getting into a rhythm. However, they fell short as they loss 30-27 in this game. They only turned the ball over once in this game. It was close to being flawless and perfect. A costly fumble loss from QB Grant Wilson hurt the Monarchs. Despite the turnover, Grant Wilson still played extremely well passing for nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns. The running game was even on point as well.
Defensively, the Monarchs played okay in the takeaway department. They intercepted JMU’s QB Jordan McCloud twice in this matchup. However, he passed for 340 yards and threw three touchdowns as well. ODU gave up over 100 receiving yards to two wide receivers in this game. The Monarchs have to feel good about this game despite all the yards given up! They still forced two turnovers and only loss by three to an undefeated ranked team in the nation. The Monarchs will look to bounce back and go back to the drawing board as they will take on Coastal Carolina this weekend at 3:30 PM ET at ODU.
