The Hokies rebound this week getting the 27-10 win over fellow ACC opponent Boston College Eagles. Saturday’s win marks the first under new Head Coach Brent Pry since arriving in Blacksburg.
The defense again paved a path to victory by bringing the pressure on BC QB Phil Jurkovec and shutting down the Eagles’ run game. In total, the Hokie defense recorded five sacks on the night along with five QB hurries, and ten tackles for loss. Senior Corner Armani Chatman also recorded an interception Saturday night his first of the season. Pry’s influence can be seen all over this defense and we may be starting to see the same trickle over to the offensive side of the ball.
On Offense, the Hokies seemed to find their stride this week. Led by the run game this week the Hokies put up 144 yards on the ground and two scores. Including an explosive 65-yard scoring run for Junior Keshawn King. QB Grant Wells showed improvement from Week 1 as well. Wells was 16 of 25 for 140 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. He seemed more poised in the pocket as well showing that last week’s performance may have been an outlier.
The Hokies will remain at Lane Stadium next week as Wofford comes to town. The Hokies are again listed as the favorite so we will see if the can build off of this week and continue to get better as a team and as a program
