Over the years, it seems as if the Washington Commanders have been the little brother of the NFC East. While we have seen them improve, they can never seem to get over the hump. The Philadelphia Eagles have won a Super Bowl and recently was the runner up for the Super Bowl last season. The New York Giants have been hot and cold over the years. However, they have had more success than failures to account for. Then you have the Dallas Cowboys who are always in the mix to make a run at a Super Bowl. Before the Commanders are thinking Super Bowl, they must take baby steps. What must the Washington Commanders do to make the playoffs this season?

O-Line Has To Perform Well

The Commanders haven’t had a lot of offensive weaponry feels like. They now have the tools on the outside to get it done. Terry Mclaurin may be a top-five WR in the league. Jahan Dotson is looking to be a top weapon in the league too. The running backs are spearheaded with Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson. Both of them are proven players. Also, it looks like Washington finally has a QB to stick with in the long run. None of that matters though if they don’t have protection on the O-Line. They need to especially open up the running lanes for the running backs. The O-Line has to take the next step for this team to take the next step.

Defense Must Get Some Takeaways

Offense hasn’t been a strong point for the Commanders over the years. Questions at QB have been common, O-Line struggles, and simply not being able to convert third down conversions. They have settled for field goals a lot within their offense. The more turnovers they force, the more points they will score. It’s simple to say the least. What will be even better is if they can score on those turnovers. That will really take this team to the next level.

Stay Healthy

Injuries surround everyone in the NFL. Sometimes, teams can overcome injuries when they have a lot of depth and just are really talented from top to bottom. That isn’t the case for the Washington Commanders. They need to stay healthy especially at key positions in order to become that dynamic team we all know they can be.
