First impressions in life mean everything. Once someone has their first impression of you and it doesn’t go well, typically it is hard to recover from. Typically, everyone has their minds made up of you. However, it takes a little bit of time for people to know the real you.

Week 1 for the ODU Monarchs didn’t go well at all. They loss pretty ugly at Virginia Tech. However, this week, they were able to right their wrongs. This week, they got to know themselves a little more and they showed us who they might actually be.

ODU had their home opener over the weekend and told everyone a little bit about themselves as they defeated Louisiana 38-31. In football, if you can get the QB position right, you tend to have some success. Grant Wilson is box office. He passed for 247 yard, completing 68% of his passes, and he threw four touchdowns and ran one in. That one he ran in was the only rushing touchdown for the Monarchs.

ODU may have won this game in a fancy manner, however they have a lot to clean up things defensively as they failed to force any turnovers in this game. They will look to fix that next weekend as they host Wake Forest who is averaging 36.5 points per game this season. In the meantime, it’s great to enjoy this win and appreciate the gold they found in Grant Wilson. They will need him a lot this weekend vs. the Deacons.
