The WWE Universe descended upon the Paris La Defense Arena in Nanterre for Clash in Paris, marking the promotion’s second premium live event in France following the success of Backlash 2024 in Lyon. With an electric crowd of 30,343 fans packing the venue, the event delivered high-stakes matches, surprising twists, and memorable performances from some of WWE’s biggest stars. This event held special significance as it was John Cena’s first and only pay-per-view appearance in France as an active competitor, amid his announced retirement tour set to conclude by the end of 2025. It also marked the final WWE main roster premium live event to air on Peacock, with future shows transitioning to ESPN’s streaming platform starting next month. The card featured six matches, including title defenses and grudge bouts, with no disqualifications in the main event fatal four-way adding to the chaos.

Match Recaps and Highlights

Singles match: Roman Reigns def. Bronson Reed

The night kicked off with a hard-hitting clash between “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns and the powerhouse Bronson Reed. Stemming from Reed’s alliance with Seth Rollins’ faction, The Vision, and a series of attacks on Reigns—including the theft of his signature sneakers—this match was personal. Reigns started strong with his trademark Superman Punches, but Reed’s size advantage shone through with devastating Tsunamis and powerbombs. Key moments included Reigns spearing Reed through the barricade, drawing massive cheers from the Parisian crowd. In a shocking post-match angle, Paul Heyman attempted to intervene on Reed’s behalf, but Reigns turned the tables and choked out his former manager for “payback” after months of betrayal. Bron Breakker then swarmed the ring, leaving Reigns laid out, hinting at escalating faction warfare heading into the fall season. Reigns’ victory reinforces his status as a top singles star, but the beatdown suggests that this rivalry is far from over.

WWE Tag Team Championship match: The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis) (c) def. The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins)

Next up, the eerie Wyatt Sicks defended their tag titles against the high-flying Street Profits, who earned their shot after overcoming distractions from the champions in recent weeks. Gacy and Lumis dominated early with psychological mind games and stiff strikes, but Ford’s athleticism turned the tide with a stunning Frog Splash that nearly secured the win. The finish came when Uncle Howdy hit Sister Abigail on Dawkins which allowed Lumis to score the pinfall and retain their titles. This retention solidifies The Wyatt Sicks’ grip on the tag division, but the Profits’ performance earned praise for their resilience.

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship match: Becky Lynch (c) def. Nikki Bella

“The Man” Becky Lynch put her Women’s Intercontinental title on the line against the returning Nikki Bella, whose challenge arose from tensions involving Bella’s ally Natalya and Lynch’s dominant reign. The bout was a technical showcase, with Bella targeting Lynch’s arm to set up her Rack Attack 2.0, while Lynch countered with Dis-Arm-Her submissions. Lynch would retain via a unique rollup pin after a series of near-falls, but the real story unfolded later in the night. This win extends Lynch’s impressive title run, positioning her as a key player in the women’s division amid Naomi’s maternity leave leaving the Women’s World Championship vacant.

Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook match: Rusev def. Sheamus

In a no-holds-barred brawl reminiscent of their European roots, Rusev and Sheamus tore the house down in a Donnybrook rules match, complete with kendo sticks, tables, and pub props. The feud, built on backstage collisions and national pride taunts, delivered brutal spots like Sheamus’ White Noise through a table and Rusev’s Machka Kicks. Rusev secured the victory by forcing Sheamus to tap out to the Accolade. The Parisian crowd’s chants of “This is awesome!” Underscored the match’s status as a show-stealer, potentially setting up a rematch down the line.

Singles match: John Cena def. Logan Paul

The highly anticipated showdown between 16-time world champion John Cena and social media sensation Logan Paul lived up to the hype as an “instant classic.” Following their tag team loss at Money in the Bank, this grudge match featured high-flying antics from Paul and Cena’s veteran savvy with Attitude Adjustments. Cena’s entrance drew an “unreal ovation,” with the French fans singing his theme song in unison. After several near-falls, Cena was able to pick up the victory over Logan Paul in a hard-fought battle.

World Heavyweight Championship Fatal Four-Way match: Seth Rollins (c) def. CM Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight

The main event was pure pandemonium, with no disqualifications allowing for weapons and interference. Rollins, who cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase at SummerSlam to dethrone Punk, faced a stacked field including the vengeful “Best in the World,” fan-favorite Jey Uso, and charismatic LA Knight. Chaos ensued with super kicks, spears, and GTS attempts flying everywhere. The shocking twist came when Becky Lynch, fresh off her title defense, interfered by attacking CM Punk with a low blow, allowing Rollins to hit the Curb Stomp for the pin and retention. This alliance between Lynch and Rollins—dubbed a “power couple move”—shocked the audience and set up intriguing storylines, potentially involving Punk, Knight, and Uso.
