Here are my players to watch for the 2017-18 NHL season. I know the season is about 15 games in, but these guys will be factors all season long.

Washington Capitals: Alexander Ovechkin
Last season Ovechkin had a solid year with 33 goals and 36 assists for 69 points. Look for him to improve on those numbers this year and try to get the Capitals to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Sidney Crosby
In 2016, Crosby had a monster season with 44 goals and 45 assists for a total of 89 points and led the Penguins to their second straight Stanley Cup title.

Edmonton Oilers: Connor McDavid
McDavid played in all 82 games last season and totaled 30 goals and 70 assists for 100 points. Look for McDavid and the Oilers to make a run to the Stanley Cup Finals this year.

Nashville Predators: P.K. Subban
Probably not a name anyone expected on this list, but Subban had 10 goals and 30 assists for a total of 40 points. With his tenacity and hard work on defense, he will always give teams trouble and should help the Predators make another trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Washington Capitals: Braden Holtby
Holtby had a monster season for the Capitals last year with a 42-13 record.  If the Capitals want to make a deep playoff run they need Holtby to be the force he was last season.
