135-1 The Biggest Upset in NCAA Tournament History!!!
By:Paul Scofield
The BIGGEST UPSET in NCAA Tournament history! We just witnessed something that the “experts” say would never happen. Basically, the committee makes these games virtually not winnable for these 16 seeds. They may not do it on purpose, but the #1 vs #16 games are pretty much supposed to be a game scrimmage for the #1 seeds. That was not the case for UVA, as they have been etched into the history books as the first #1 seed to ever lose in the first round of this beautiful tournament.
This game destroyed more brackets than the Arizona loss did. #1 seeds are 135-0 in the opening round, only 5 of those games being decided by 5 points or less. No team has put up 70 points on that stingy UVA defense, except for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Retrievers. With 4 guys getting into double figures, and Jairius Lyles playing brilliantly with 28 points. The Virginia Cavaliers falls to the Retrievers 74-54.
