ARLINGTON, TX — The Washington Mystics were defeated 97-85 on the road yesterday evening against the Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena. Washington couldn’t keep up with Seattle’s offense, which was on a heater last night, shooting 44% from the floor (26-of-59 fgs), 46% from the three-point line (13-of-28 3pt fgs), and 94% at the free-throw line (32-of-34 ft attempts).

The Mystics continued to struggle defending the three-point line: now allowing a league-worst 11 made three-pointers per contest and sending opponents to the free-throw line at the league’s highest rate.

Seattle was led by Natisha Hiedeman, who tied her career-high of 24 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor, 4-of-6 from behind the arc, and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line. 2026 lottery pick Flau’jae Johnson poured in 17 points, and former Mystic, Stefanie Dolson, added 16 points on perfect shooting.

The second quarter is where the Mystics lost their footing in this contest, after a layup by Sonia Citron cut the Seattle lead to 42-36 at the 2:18 mark. Seattle went on to end the quarter on a 7-1 run, going ahead by double digits, a lead they wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the game.

Washington had five different players in double figures: Citron (16 points), Georgia Amoore (13 points), Angela Dugalic (13 points), Kiki Irafen (13 points), and Shakira Austin (12 points).

Head coach Sydney Johnson has continued to utilize nearly his entire rotation as he tries to help the youngest team in the WNBA navigate their development and form winning habits.

Veteran forward Michaela Onyenwere made her season debut for Washington after missing the first four contests with a knee injury, scoring six points, one steal, and a team-high plus-six rating.
