Citron’s Late Three Propels Mystics Over Wings In Overtime (6-22-25)

WASHINGTON D.C. – Sonia Citron had a career-best 27-point performance Sunday afternoon, leading the Washington Mystics to a 91-88 overtime victory against the Dallas Wings at CareFirst Arena.
Shakira Austin received an entry pass inside the paint and found an open Citron in the corner for the game-winning 3-pointer with 12.2 seconds remaining in overtime. On the potential game-tying opportunity for the Wings, guard Arike Ogunbowale missed a pull-up three-pointer, followed by Paige Bueckers grabbing the offensive rebound and attempting a three-pointer that fell short.
Citron shot 9-of-13 from the field and 4-of-7 from three. She also finished with a double-double, grabbing a new career-high 11 rebounds to go along with two assists and two steals.
Austin added 21 points and had a game-best plus-22 rating when on the floor. Kiki Irafen scored 19 points dished out six assists, grabbed seven rebounds, and had five steals. Sug Sutton added 15 points, scoring nine in the first quarter.
Ogunbowale led Dallas with 27 points, and Bueckers had a balanced attack, scoring 20 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out seven assists.
Washington (6-8) played in its first overtime game of the season, securing a victory after coming off a tough 92-91 loss against Atlanta on Friday evening. Dallas (3-12) was coming off back-to-back victories entering Sunday’s matchup.
The Mystics jumped out to a 16-point lead in the first quarter, before the Wings responded in the second, outscoring the Mystics in the second and third quarters to take a 10-point lead.
Both teams combined for 63 free throw attempts, yes… that is correct, 63 (Washington 32, Dallas 41). There were a total of 60 fouls called in the game.
